clinging precariously on top of a steep rocky gorge, or Cahors,famous for it's almost black rich wine. Why not visit Periguex,
a busy regional town, with an old quarter & some roman remains or
Montignac, with the nearby cave paintings of Lascaux & the
Neolithic cave dwellings around the town of Les Eyzies.

best preserved "Bastide" towns, with it's imposing 13th century
market square




Beynac, with it's dramatic castle which
commands fantastic panoramic views of the Dordogne valley, where you
can take a river trip on a traditional "Gabbarre", or visit Castlelnaud,
just across the river.
